Arnie gets Yarny!
It’s the summer of yarn bombing here at Ply, and the time has finally come for the tree out front to get its own snuggly cozy. For years we’ve all stood in the front window of the shop and imagined this tree, affectionately named Arnie, covered in colorful, fuzzy fabric. We pictured it filled with bird feeders and wind chimes, and knitted squirrels running amuck through the branches. Maybe we’re a little yarn obsessed, but either way, that vision is about to become reality. Over the next few months Arnie will be our big summer project, and our needles will be very busy!
And who says your needles have to slow down just because the sun is out and the breeze is fresh? Here at Ply we prefer to move the craftiness outside when the weather is at its best! We already enjoyed a day in front of the shop for World Wide Knit in Public Day on June 13th, but we don’t think that’s nearly enough! Arnie provides an abundance of glorious shade in front of
Ply, and we think everyone should enjoy it! Don’t hesitate to stop by any time the shop is open and relax with your knitting outside in the summer shade! Not sure what to knit, though? How about contributing to the Arnie Yarn Bomb! We have a whole stack of knitted animal patterns that we’re hoping to get in the tree this summer. Use yarn from your stash or receive 25% off on any yarn that is being used to knit an animal for the tree. Our goal is to fill Arnie’s branches with dozens of knitted creatures… we want to make Arnie the happiest, goofiest tree in the whole of the Downtown, a tree that people from near and far will come to see!
You don’t have to make a huge project to contribute to the bombing, and many of the patterns that we have already found are small, quick projects that you can whip out in just a few hours! So come hang out with us Saturday and stop in the shop to get the details on how you can be a part of Downtown Richmond’s most epic yarn bombing ever!
